Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

The series is popular, so I thought I would post about the latest one. I don't even know what it's about, but it looks good. It seems to me that the entire thing is puzzles. If that's so, I won't be getting it, as I prefer a mix of puzzle and adventure. Release: August 24th, 2009.

Swords & Soldiers (WiiWare)

I'm very excited about this game. As the first side-scroller strategy game, it looks pretty awesome. You can play as vikings, aztecs, or chinese. Other than that, I don't really know much about it. It's on my list for reviewing once I get it, so check back after a while. At 1000 Wii points, it looks like it's worth double that.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

I heard the traveling in Phantom Hourglass was a little constricted, and they seem to have made it worse. Looks like dungeon, dungeon, and more dungeon, with a train ride in between each. Walking/sailing around is my favorite part! And what's with the whole Indiana Jones thing? Oh well. I'll probably get it eventually anyway.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

As the 6th Harry Potter game, it would say a lot if it wasn't good. The 4th game was awful, and with the 5th game, they decided to only put 1/5 of the book in. I'm a big Harry fan, so they better not mess up my favorite book! It's the most accurate of the Hogwarts castles so far. I heard some HP fans even noticed some mistakes in the movies after playing the game. I doubt I'll notice anything. Who knows? Maybe the movie will be more accurate too. Especially with the extra 8 months they had to work on it (mutters to self).

Wii Sports Resort

Well, it's finally here. Yes, we can enjoy the 1:1 capabilities of MotionPlus. Oh, and a new Wii Sports too. In Resort, there are 12 games available. They are: Disc Dog, Power Cruising, Sword Play, Table Tennis, Golf, Air Sports, Basketball, Archery, Cycling, Bowling, Canoeing, and Wakeboarding. Man, that's a lot. I'd probably get this even if it didn't come with an accessory! You might think that because it comes with MotionPlus, it would be a bunch of money, but no, it's only $50.

The Beatles: Rock Band

I heard a while back that Activision was trying to get the rights to make a Beatles Guitar Hero, but it looks like they lost the race to someone else. I'm more of a GH fan myself, so I was quite disappointed when I heard it was a Rock Band game. Of course, it doesn't matter too much, considering GH instruments work with RB, and I don't need special Beatles instruments. If you'll notice, there are multiple harmony lines in the vocals. Am I going to have to buy more microphones? I hope it's optional, because I don't want to sing when anybody's in the same room...

Where's Star Fox?

Yet another E3 passes with no news of Star Fox for Wii... They kind of dropped the ball with Command, but that doesn't mean they should drop the series altogether! Assault is one of the best games I own. Are they really going to let go of that? I certainly hope not. And besides, Nintendo can't just leave us hanging, not knowing which ending of Command is official! The Wii will be around for quite a while, so maybe they're saving it for after everything else has been done. All we can do is wait and see.

Update: Majora's Mask was released as the 300th VC game, so maybe it'll be something similar with Star Fox. Does anyone know how many Wii games Nintendo has released?

I don't know about you, but I think ninjas are awesome. Those enemy warriors must be spirits or something, because humans can't be that big and there weren't robots in feudal Japan. This game is the very definition of promising, so keep an eye on it.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

I haven't played a Mario & Luigi game before, but it looks similar to Super Paper Mario. I loved Super Paper Mario. I almost feel sorry for Bowser, having to eat all that stuff to get rid of M & L. Almost. Release: October 1st, 2009.

Wii Fit Plus

Want to get in shape from your living room? Get Wii Fit. Have Wii Fit and want more? Here's your solution. I don't have the original (yet), but this one looks a lot better. Seeming as I wasn't actually at E3, I don't know all the specifics, but I hope it has MotionPlus support. I'm looking forward to the skateboard and obstacle course mini games. And the extra balance board. Peripherals at a slightly cheaper price because they're in a package are always nice.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

This one actually makes sense, seeming as the original was on the NES. Not a handheld. As with SMG 2, they've made a smart move by adding Yoshi. The multiplayer in the DS version was somewhat limited, but they seem to have opened it up to where the whole game is multiplayer (optionally). Personally, I'd like to see online play, so you don't have to have everybody in your living room. I'm sure Nintendo has it's reasons, but does anyone have any idea why you can pick up other players?

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Wow. Big move on Nintendo's part. The first time there's been another fully 3D Mario on the same console. There's been one Smash Bros. per console, one Mario Kart per system, and quite a few others. I have high hopes for SMG 2 - especially with the addition of Yoshi - but I don't think it can top the first one as far as enjoyment. When a wonderful game like SMG comes along, you want it to go on forever. As that's impossible (at least for this type of game), you hope for a sequel. But when it comes, you realize that no matter how great it is, it'll never be as much fun as when you first experienced the concept of the game. I hope this is the exception. What do you think? If you understood the description, then this blog is for you! I'm a full-on Nintendo fan, so if you're more of a PS3 or 360 fan, you might want to look away before your face melts off. There'll be random posts about other things, so you'll just have to suffer (or enjoy) your way to what the majority of posts will be about.

Starting now, I'll be covering the most promising of the games unveiled at E3. Some of them are quite surprising, and others (ok, the same one) go against tradition. Be sure to answer the current poll afterwards. I hope it'll be enjoyable for all my fictitious readers!
